Blaptica dubia is the ultimate feeder roach for reptiles, invertebrates and aquatic animals alike. This species is literally 'designed' to be easily preyed upon and eaten! They are not fast roaches and have no ability to climb smooth surfaces or fly. They are so easy to establish that even 7 year old kids have great success breeding them (with adult supervision of course!)

Blatta lateralis picks up where dubias fail. These are exceptionally fast roaches that sprint like road runners out of hell. They outrun even the fastest and smartest predators with ease. To overcome this, Lateralis keepers usually maim or mutilate one or two limbs of the feeders prior to dropping them into the pet's cages. This effectively slows down the running but also adds to more deliberate jerky movements in the feeder, which in turn never fails to attract the predator.

Probably the best attribute of these roaches are the fact that they are surface runners and never dig or burrow, unlike Blaptica dubia. These roaches are not capable of climbing smooth surfaces and flying. They also propagate very fast.
